ESU Competes at Gulden Invitational Behind Record-Breaking Throw by Voto

LEWISBURG, Pa. -- The East Stroudsburg University men's track and field team competed at the Gulden Invitational hosted by Bucknell on Saturday, adding two more PSAC automatic qualifiers. The day was highlighted by Anthony Voto, who broke the school's 16-year-old record in the weight throw.
 
Capturing a first-place finish was Jalen Cook in the high jump. 

PSAC Automatic Qualifiers   

Track Events  
In the 200m, Nico Gasque earned an automatic PSAC qualifying mark with a time of 22.48.  

Mark Jackson placed third in the 400m with an automatic PSAC qualifying time of 50.18. Jaden Collins finished eighth, while Jayden Johnson and Ajani Miller finished 14th and 15 respectively.  

The 4x400m relay team consisting of Mark Jackson, Ajani Miller, Chase Temple, and Nico Gasque placed fourth with a time of 3:30.32. 

Field Events  
Jalen Cook and Peter Stanislavsky placed first and second respectively in the high jump, both earning automatic PSAC qualifying marks. Cook's jump of 2.05m is 10th all-time and is a NCAA provisional mark.  

In the pole vault, Chris Costa placed seventh with a 4.40m vault. Albert Morton placed 11th in the long jump and Jaden Johnson placed fourth in the triple jump.  

Anthony Voto had a career best performance in the weight throw. His mark of 66-08.50 surpassed both the previous PSAC and school records of 66-03.75, set by ESU'S Paul Wagner in 2010. Voto placed second behind Lock Haven's Eric Zalar, who currently holds the PSAC record of 20.47m (67-2).  

Voto placed fifth in the shot put with a throw of 16.61m. Both throws were NCAA provisional marks.  

Up Next  
The Warriors return to action on Friday, January 30, splitting competition across three meets. ESU will be represented at the Bison Open & Multi, the Harvard Invitational, and the John Thomas Terrier Classic.
