1/25/2026 12:00:00 PM

EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. — East Stroudsburg University Athletics is excited to announce that the department will celebrate National Girls and Women in Sports Day with its annual Salute to Women in Sports on Saturday, Feb. 14, during the women's and men's basketball doubleheader at Koehler Fieldhouse.

ESU will recognize all 14 women's sports programs: basketball, cross country, field hockey, golf, lacrosse, soccer, softball, STUNT, swimming, tennis, track & field, volleyball, and wrestling. The celebration tips off with women's basketball at 1 p.m., followed by men's basketball at 3 p.m.

Local youth teams and organizations are invited to join the celebration, with registration including free admission to the doubleheader for youth participants in eighth grade and below. In addition to admission, the day will also feature giveaways for teams and kids who register to attend. Families may register as individual participants not affiliated with a team. Separate registration links are available for groups/teams and individual participants.
ESU women's athletics programs continue to excel at the highest levels of competition and in the classroom. Warrior teams and student-athletes have captured conference championships, earned NCAA postseason berths, achieved national rankings, and received All-Conference and All-America honors, while consistently posting strong academic results.

Since the 2020-21 academic year, ESU's women's sports teams collectively have won an NCAA title, made another national championship game appearance, won four regional championships, and brought back six PSAC championships while producing 42 All-Americans. Additionally, this year, ESU had 20 student-athletes from fall teams named PSAC Academic All-Conference honorees, and East Stroudsburg finished the fall season ranked first in women's sports and second overall in the 2025-26 Dixon Trophy Standings.

"This annual celebration inspires girls and women to play and be active, to realize their full power," the Women's Sports Foundation said. "The confidence, strength, and character gained through sports participation are the very tools girls and women need to become strong leaders in sports and life. The Women's Sports Foundation ushers in 2026 energy to continue empowering girls and women, and to create pathways for their lifelong participation in sports. We appreciate all who have, and continue to, support us in our mission — and join us on this important day. A vibrant movement we celebrate annually, NGWSD honors the achievements of women athletes, coaches, and leaders, and the power of sports to unlock their limitless potential, powered by the Women's Sports Foundation."
