KUTZTOWN, Pa. -- The East Stroudsburg University women's basketball team fell to the Kutztown Golden Bears in a tightly contested matchup that ended in an overtime loss Tuesday evening, 62-59.
The Warriors dropped to 11-8 overall and 6-6 in conference action, while Kutztown improved to 11-8 overall and 7-5 in the PSAC.

Avery White led the floor with 22 points and added an assist. Brie Droege followed with 15 points, nine rebounds, four assists, and a team-high five steals. Brooke Droege contributed 10 points, four assists, and four rebounds, while also recording two steals and two blocks. Caitlin Marten led the team with 13 rebounds, while Jess Devine followed with seven rebounds and three steals.
How it Happened
Brooke made the first basket of the game at 7:46 and was assisted by Brie. After Kutztown answered with consecutive baskets, Brie tied the game with a jumper at 6:14. Avery White later connected on a three-pointer and continued her strong start to help the Warriors build a 13-8 lead late in the quarter. Brooke converted a three-point play, and Kutztown followed with a 5-0 run to end the quarter within one, 16-15.
Kutztown briefly led in the second quarter before ESU responded with an 8-0 run, highlighted by three-pointers from Brie and White, to go up 25-19. After a second three-pointer from Brie, Kutztown went on a 5-0 run that ended when Lacie Kringe converted a Jess Devine steal. Kutztown used two three-pointers to take the lead, 32-30. A late basket from Kringe sent the teams into halftime tied at 32.
Brie and White combined for five points to open the third quarter. Kutztown then connected four three-pointers to extend its lead to 45-40. ESU answered with baskets from Brooke and White, and a free throw from Brooke tied the game at 46.
In the fourth quarter, early baskets from Kringe and Marten put ESU ahead by four, 50-46, at the 8:29 mark. Kutztown added two free throws and a layup, while a jumper from Emma Thornton kept ESU in front, 52-50. With 20 seconds left, both teams traded a basket. Kutztown then forced overtime with two free throws in the final 10 seconds, tying the game at 54.
Kutztown added two baskets before Brooke made a jumper at 3:20, 58-56. Baskets from Brie and a free throw from Marten pulled the Warriors within one, 60-59. However, the Warriors fell as the Golden Bears closed the game with two free throws.
