Warriors Fall at Millersville in Divisional Opener

MILLERSVILLE, Pa. – The East Stroudsburg women's basketball team opened divisional play on the road at Millersville but came up short in a second-half rally, falling 73-66.

The Warriors are now 8-5 overall and 3-3 in conference play, while the Marauders improved to 5-7 overall and 1-5 in the PSAC.

Notables
Brie Droege posted a season high of 21 points, grabbed three rebounds, and recorded one block. Lacie Kringe followed with 14 points, led the team with seven rebounds, two steals, and one block. Brooke Droege rounded out the top scorers with 12 points and contributed four assists. Defensively, Emma Thornton led the Warriors with four steals, while ESU totaled four blocks. Jess Devine contributed five assists, five points, and four rebounds.

How it Happened
Brie scored the Warriors' first two baskets as the Marauders built an early 13-4 advantage. ESU responded with a 12-2 run to take a 16-15 lead. Millersville closed the quarter with a basket at the 1:15 mark to regain the lead, 17-16.

Millersville opened the second quarter on a 7-0 run before Kringe ended the stretch with a jumper at 7:41. After a Marauders three-pointer, White answered from beyond the arc at 5:41 to cut the deficit to seven, 28-21. The Warriors used three straight baskets to trim the margin to five, but a 5-0 Millersville run sent ESU into halftime trailing 42-32.

After a Millersville layup at 7:07, ESU responded with a 6-0 run, capped by a Brie layup that tied the game at 46-46. Brie then grabbed an offensive rebound and converted a jumper at 4:28 to give the Warriors a 48-46 lead. ESU headed into the third quarter ahead 53-51.

Millersville regained control early in the final period, outscoring the Warriors 12-4. Brie closed the quarter with two layups and a three-pointer to reach 21 points on the day. In the final minute, Millersville added four points to extend its lead to 73-66, handing ESU its first divisional loss.
