LOCK HAVEN, Pa. — Coming off a 214-yard second quarter against Shippensburg, junior QB
Matt Machalik was named the PSAC East Offensive Athlete of the Week, the conference announced Monday afternoon.
Machalik had his best day as a collegiate QB on Saturday, only needing six drives to total 225 passing yards and four touchdowns. In the second quarter, Machalik entered the game in a scoreless tie. By halftime, the Warriors led 28-0. Machalik's 214 yards, on 12-of-13 passes, in the second quarter were the most by an ESU quarterback since Matt Soltes threw for 233 yards against Lock Haven on Nov. 2, 2013. Additionally, it was the first time since the 2023 season-opening game versus Pace that the Warriors scored four offensive touchdowns in a quarter.
Machalik's award is his first in the PSAC, and it extends ESU's streak of receiving an Athlete of the Week honor to three. Machalik and the Warriors are back home after their two-game road trip, hosting Shepherd this weekend at 1:05 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 24, at Eiler-Martin Stadium.
