EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. -- The East Stroudsburg University women's basketball team scored a season-high 95 points in a 95-72 victory over Mansfield on Wednesday evening.
With this win, the Warriors improved to 15-9 on the season and 10-7 in conference play, while Mansfield dropped to 3-21 overall and 1-16 in the PSAC.
Notables
Brie Droege and Lacie Kringe led the Warriors with 21 points each and also grabbed five rebounds apiece. Kringe's 21 points marked a season high, as she went nearly perfect from the field, converting 10-of-11 attempts. Avery White followed with 15 points, five rebounds, four assists, and two steals. Jess Devine rounded out the top scorers with 12 points, five rebounds, four assists, and three steals.
Defensively, Caitlin Marten led with 10 rebounds while Kaitlyn McGeary added six.
The Warriors recorded their highest scoring game under second-year head coach Liz Flooks, surpassing their previous high of 87 points set in November 2024.
How it Happened
The Mountaineers began the game with two quick baskets before Kringe responded with a 4-0 run to tie the game. Mansfield hit consecutive three-pointers, but ESU answered with an 8-0 run to take a 12-10 lead at the 4:45 mark. Mansfield connected on another pair of threes around the four-minute mark before ESU closed the quarter on a dominant 16-2 run.
McGeary scored the first basket for ESU at the 8:00 mark, 32-20. Mansfield cut the deficit to five with a 7-0 run. Kringe's jumper and White's three-pointer around the 4:30 mark sparked a 13-2 run for the Warriors. Consecutive layups from Brie sent ESU into halftime with a 45-29 advantage.
Marten's layup at 7:19 in the third ended Mansfield's early 7-0 run. White knocked down her second three-pointer at 5:47 and added another at 4:31 to extend the lead to 54-42. The Warriors added a basket from both White and Devine just under the two-minute mark, 61-47. The quarter ended with trips to the free throw line for both teams.
Mansfield opened the fourth quarter with a layup that followed with a Brie three-pointer at 9:15. Peyton Long converted an offensive rebound to put ESU ahead by 18 and added another layup at 7:54. At 6:13, Brie converted a three-point play to make it 78-61. Lilly Riggi added a pair of layups assisted by Droege and Devine. The teams traded free throws down the stretch, and ESU's final basket came on a McGeary layup with 21 seconds remaining to seal the 95-72 victory.
