PHILADELPHIA, Pa. -- The East Stroudsburg University men's track and field team had a strong showing at the Widener Indoor Classic over the weekend.
Track Events
Nico Gasque's time of 6.99 in the 60m preliminaries is the fourth fastest mark in program history.
After qualifying for the finals in 8.47, Raqeeb Somoye secured a sixth-place finish in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.50.
In the 200m, Miguel Charlery placed fourth with a personal best time of 21.94, while his time ranks fourth in the record books. Gasque's fifth place finish and time of 21.95 ranks fifth all-time. Michael Stank placed seventh with a time of 22.01, ranking him sixth all-time. Stank's time also was an automatic PSAC qualifying mark.
Mark Jackson placed first in the 400m, while his time of 47.54 is second all-time and an NCAA Provisional.
The 4x400m relay consisting of Jackson, Ajani Miller, Chase Temple, and Stank placed second with a fourth all-time mark of 3:17.39.
Field Events
Jalen Cook placed second in the high jump with a mark of 2.10m (6-10 ¾), moving him from seventh to fourth all-time.
In the triple jump, Nasir Heard placed second and Daniel Smith placed third, both recording NCAA Provisionals. Heard's best mark of 14.82m (48-7 ½) ranks fifth in the record book.
Jalen Gaymon placed fifth in the shot put (14.84m, 48-8 ½) and 16th in the weight throw (14.70m, 48-2 ¾).
