- Abby Simonneti got her third win of the season, shutting down the IUP offense after the first quarter. Simonetti made 12 stops on 16 shots on goal.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Warriors jumped out ahead to a 2-0 lead after Roth assisted Schiemer for the opening goal, then Kauffman added an unassisted one right off the draw. However, the Crimson Hawks had a strong answer, outscoring ESU 4-0 to end the final 10 minutes in the first quarter.
- ESU quickly evened the game once the second quarter began, tying it at 4-4 with goals from Hallman and Tucci in the first three minutes. Tucci found the back of the net again with six minutes remaining, putting ESU up for good. Down a player from a green card, Kauffman added an insurance goal two minutes later, and the Warriors scored again after the draw control as Tucci created her own chance to go into the break leading 7-4.
- From the second quarter on, the Warriors put on a clinic on both ends of the field. The defense limited the quantity and quality of looks that the Crimson Hawks had on net, and when IUP did break through the defense, Simonetti stood tall, shutting down everything that came her way after the first quarter.
- ESU outscored IUP 7-0 in the third and 6-0 in the fourth. The last goal for the Warriors came from Natalie Ruffus off a Jamie Butt assist in the last minute and a half, as they secured a win in their road trip of the season.
