EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. — The ESU women's lacrosse team continued its dominant start to the season, defeating Georgian Court 22-6 on Saturday afternoon. The Warriors moved to 4-0 in 2026.
NOTABLES
- Sadie Kauffman led the team in scoring and contributed in every part of the field for ESU. Scoring six times and assisting on two other tallies, she finished with seven draw controls, one caused turnover, and a ground ball each.
- Paige Moreland had a standout performance from attack with a goal and three assists. Moreland, who has five goals and 10 assists on the year, is already one shy in each category of matching her season total from last year.
- Ariana Tucci and Lauren Hallman each finished with three points. Hallman scored three goals on five shots, while Tucci netted two and added an assist.
- Delia Lederman and Katie Bullen both scored twice to round out ESU's multi-goal scorers, with other tallies coming from Jolee Roth, Hannah Schiemer, Courtney Reynolds, Kelly Quinlan, Courtney Pelisson, and Jamie Butt.
- Abby Simonetti notched her fourth win of the season, making three saves in the first half. Madison McBride and Rachael Zabko split the second half, combining for three saves.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Kauffman got the scoring started with two early goals, being in the right place at the right time to secure a loose ball on the first one, and converting off a feed from Moreland for her second. After Georgian Court got one of those back, Kauffman completed her hat trick just 5:27 into the game with an unassisted goal.
- The Lions got on the board again following that tally, but ESU outscored them 5-1 in the final six minutes of the opening quarter. Moreland, Bullen, Hallman, and Tucci gave ESU four consecutive goals from different players, with Tucci recording the final one before the second quarter.
- The Warriors scored the first two goals of the next period to go up 10-3, but Georgian Court scored the next two to make it a five-goal game. In the last 4:34 of the first half, Quinlan, Hallman, Kauffman, and Lederman all found the back of the net to give ESU a 10-goal lead at the break.
- ESU has been clinical in its second halves this season, and today's effort was no different. In the final 30 minutes, the Warriors outscored the Lions 7-1, keeping the game out of reach while maintaining possession and adding to its lead, resulting in a 22-6 win.
GAME NOTES
- The Warriors went a perfect 14-14 on clear attempts. ESU had six games last season where every clearing attempt was successful, with two of those times being more than 14 clears.
