ORLANDO, Fla. – After a close loss on Monday, the Warriors entered their Thursday matchup against Minnesota State Moorhead with a mission to get back on track, doing just that with a 4-3 win.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The duo of
Bega Gotor and
Nia Vivas Montoya opened action with a 7-5 win.
Theresa Bauer and
Lea Stefanovic fought hard to start a positive streak, but couldn't pull out the win, leaving the doubles point to be decided by
Ariel Kelsick and
Jenna Kastell. The two pushed the match as far as they could, going to a tiebreaker, but weren't able to earn the win, giving the point to Minnesota State Moorhead.
Bauer turned things around for ESU in singles play, winning in two sets, giving up only one game across both. Kastell continued the strong performance with a match sweep, followed by
Alice Ehrenlechner dominating her match as well. Kelsick looked to carry the momentum for the Warriors at the top of the lineup, winning her first set 6-1. The second set became a much closer battle, but the effort from Kelsick allowed her to clinch the victory for ESU with four singles wins in a row. This was the last of the positive news, as Stefanovic fell in two close sets, 7-5, 6-4.
Audrey Conover lost her first set as well, but rallied back to bring the match to a super tiebreak, where her rally came to an end, falling 10-5.
