STROUDSBURG, Pa. -- The East Stroudsburg University softball team split a midweek doubleheader against the Kutztown Golden Bears on Tuesday, winning the first game 1-0 before falling in game two 6-4 despite a late rally.
The Warriors are now 14-10 overall and 2-4 in conference action.
Game 1
On the mound was Sarah Davenport who improved to 8-4 on the season after she limited the Golden Bears to just two hits and no runs, while striking out nine.
At the plate, Kinsley Proepper and Megan Chroniger each recorded two hits, while Tulana Mingin and Katie Master added one apiece. Chroniger scored the game's only run.
The decisive moment came in the fourth inning when Chroniger tripled to right field and later crossed the plate on a throwing error.
Game 2
Proepper and Kaitlynn Colangelo each recorded two hits while four players recorded one hit each.
In the second game, Kutztown got out to an early 2-0 lead before the Warriors got on the board in the bottom of the second. The Golden Bears then scored a run in each of the fourth, fifth, and sixth innings to take a 6-1 advantage. In the bottom of the sixth the Warriors responded scoring three runs on four hits, 6-4.
The Golden Bears scored two runs on one hit and two errors in the second. Proepper opened the bottom of the inning with a triple down the right field line then later scored on Chroniger's sacrifice fly to left field.
Through three innings, Kutztown added four runs on seven hits to push ESU's deficit to five, 6-1.
The Warriors rallied in the bottom of the sixth, scoring three runs on four hits. With two outs, Delaney Ridgell singled to right field, stole second, then scored on Proepper's RBI single to right field. Addison Bianco came in to pinch run for Proepper and then stole second. Bianco scored on Chroniger's RBI triple to left field. Chroniger then scored the Warrior's final run on Master's RBI single up the middle.
In the seventh with two outs, Mingin singled through the left side but was left on base with a final groundout.

The Warriors return to action at Creekview Park on Friday, March 27th, when they host Millersville for a doubleheader beginning at 1:00 p.m.
