STROUDSBURG, Pa. -- The East Stroudsburg University softball team powered its way to a doubleheader sweep over Millersville Friday afternoon, combining for 20 hits and 15 runs across two games. The Warriors won the opener 9-1 in a run-rule victory and took the second game 6-4.
With the sweep, ESU improves to 16-10 overall and 4-4 in PSAC action.
Notables
The Warriors hit four home runs on the day, with Megan Chroniger going deep in both games. Delaney Ridgell added a homer in the first game, and Maddy Pritchard hit one in the second.
Katie Master and Tulana Mingin each had four hits, while Chroniger and Kinsley Proepper finished with three apiece. Ridgell added two hits in game one, and four other Warriors recorded a hit.
Sarah Davenport earned the win in game one to improve to 9-4, striking out 10 for her seventh double-digit strikeout game of the season. She also pitched the final inning of game two, recording two strikeouts.
Game 1
The Warriors won the first game in five innings, scoring nine runs on 11 hits.
Proepper led off with a double to left field in the second inning before she scored on Chroniger's homer to left center, which put the Warriors on the board first.
The Warriors extended their lead in the third, adding four runs on five hits. Mingin opened the inning with a triple down the right field line then scored on a passed ball, 3-0. Ridgell then homered to right center to put ESU up by four. Later in the inning, Master delivered an RBI triple, and Gigi DeMito added an RBI single to extend the lead to 5-0.
The Marauders scored their lone run in the top of the fourth on two hits, 6-1.
The Warriors added to their lead in the bottom of the fourth, scoring three runs on three hits and an error. With two outs, Mingin singled to second base then advanced to third on Marissa Perez's single to shortstop. Ridgell recorded her second hit of the day with a two-RBI triple down the right field line, 8-1. Proepper then reached first on an error while Ridgell scored ESU's ninth run to put them ahead by eight, 9-1.
The Marauders drew a walk in the fifth, but Davenport struck out the last two batters to give the Warriors a run-rule victory.
Game 2
The Warriors completed the sweep with a 6-4 win in game two. On the mound was Tessa Guenette who improved to 6-2 on the season as she posted a career-high eight strikeouts.
In the bottom of the first, Mingin singled to first base then advanced to second on a groundout. She then advanced to third on a wild pitch and scored, which gave the Warriors an early 1-0 lead.
In the second inning, Master tripled to right field then scored on Pritchard's homer to left center, 3-1.
The Marauders scored two runs on one hit and two errors in the fourth to pull within one, 3-2.
Chroniger responded in the bottom of the inning with her second homer of the day out to right center which extended the Warrior's lead to 4-2.
In the sixth, Proepper singled up the middle and Addison Bianco entered as a pinch runner. Bianco moved to third on Chroniger's double to center field, and Master drove in both runners with a single to left field, then took second on the throw. Davenport came in and struck out the final two batters to secure the sweep.

The Warriors return to action on Tuesday, March 31, when they travel to Lock Haven for a doubleheader.
