INDIANAPOLIS, Pa. — The NCAA revealed its first edition of women's lacrosse regional rankings on Wednesday evening, with East Stroudsburg being named as one of the top teams in the Atlantic Region.
The first regional rankings of the year list the teams alphabetically, as ESU is one of eight teams to make the initial release. Joining the Warriors are PSAC rivals Kutztown, Seton Hill, Slippery Rock, and West Chester, Charleston and Frostburg State from the Mountain East Conference, and Wingate from the South Atlantic Conference.
The Warriors haven't just won, but dominated nearly every game this season, winning 13 of their 15 games by double-digit goals. ESU already broke its program record for longest win streak, and is now tied for the 10
th-longest winning streak in PSAC history. The Warriors' roster has potential All-PSAC and All-Americans in every position group, as ESU leads Division II in points per game with 29.6, fueling the second-best scoring offense that averages 19.1 goals per game for an average scoring margin of 12.6 goals per game.
ESU has received plenty of national recognition this year, as
Sadie Kauffman, who ranks second in Division II with 78 goals and 7.1 PPG, has been named the USA Lacrosse Magazine Division II Player of the Week twice and the IWLCA Division II Player of the Week once. Her teammate on offense,
Paige Moreland, who's eighth in the country with 38 assists, also has an IWLCA nod to her name from this season as well.
The Warriors have two games remaining in their regular season, both on the road. They'll travel this weekend out of state to take on Shepherd at noon on Saturday, April 18, in Shepherdstown, W. Va.
