Women's Tennis Senior Day Capped Off With Win

EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. – As the Warriors celebrated their seniors for Senior Day, they handled business on home territory, defeating Messiah in a 5-2 matchup. The victory elevates ESU to 16-4, extending their win streak to 10 games.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Doubles action kicked off a hot start for the Warriors as Jenna Kastell and Ariel Kelsick took the first doubles set of the day, 6-2. Theresa Bauer and Alice Ehrenlechner followed it up with a 6-3 performance to secure the doubles point for ESU. The senior duo of Jazmine Parker and Katrina Ricci faced a tougher matchup, going into a tiebreaker. The evenly matched set saw Parker and Ricci come out on top of it, 8-6, giving the Warriors the doubles sweep.

ESU kept the momentum up through singles action, starting with Kastell taking the first match in two sets. Kelsick followed with her own two set victory in her first match at the top of the lineup this season. Ricci attempted to keep the streak going, taking four games after dropping the first set, but fell just short of forcing a super tiebreaker. Parker fell in her first set, but rallied back in the second to take it, 7-5. In the super tiebreaker, she pushed hard, earning eight points but it was not enough to secure the win. Looking to clinch the win for the Warriors was Audrey Conover, facing a super tiebreaker after dropping the second set, 6-4. In the extra play, Conover soundly secured the win, 10-4, earning the fourth point for ESU. In the last match on the court, Bega Gotor took the first set, 6-1, but dropped the second despite a strong effort. The super tiebreaker remained competitive, but Gotor's efforts paid off as she won, 11-9.
