EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. – Women's tennis took down Chestnut Hill on Tuesday afternoon, 4-3, closing out their regular season home slate. The Warriors now improve to 17-4 on the season, going undefeated at home.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Due to Chestnut Hill not posting enough players, ESU entered doubles play needing just one match win. Delivering the point was the duo of
Ariel Kelsick and
Jenna Kastell, doing so in a 6-1 match.
Theresa Bauer and
Alice Ehrenlechner followed with their own win, handing the momentum to the Warriors heading into singles action.
Singles opened with
Audrey Conover facing a loss, but Kelsick answered with a win from the top spot of the lineup. Kastell put up a hard fight to replicate her doubles partner, but fell short despite taking nine games between both sets. Ehrenlechner found herself in a hard-fought battle after dropping her first set. She pushed the second to a tiebreaker for the sixth point, where she was unable to come out on top, tying the match, 3-3.
The dual came down to Bauer in the No. 5 spot. After dropping her first set, the freshman rallied back to take the second, 7-6, and force a super tiebreaker. In the deciding game, Bauer improved on both of her performances in the previous sets, dominating to win, 10-2, and secure the eleventh consecutive win for ESU.

The Warriors will look to continue their historical win streak and finish the season undefeated in conference play as they head on the road to take on Bloomsburg at 3 p.m. on Wednesday.
