INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Women's tennis held strong as the No. 8 rank in the NCAA DII Atlantic Region rankings after closing out the regular season with wins over Chestnut Hill and Bloomsburg.
With both wins being in-region, the Warriors have improved their regional record to 11-4. The win over Bloomsburg also meant going undefeated against PSAC East opponents and clinching the conference title.
The Huskies are the only other team from the East, sitting at No. 9, while Indiana (P.a.) and Slippery Rock represent the West from the top two spots respectively. Also ranked is Charleston (W.V.), Fairmont State, West Virginia Wesleyan, and Frostburg State being ranked in order out of the Mountain East Conference. At No. 7 is Shaw, representing the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association.
ESU's
Ariel Kelsick was named PSAC East Athlete of the Week, marking her third time earning the honor this season. This is the seventh time a Warrior has earned the honor with
Lea Stefanovic earning it three times and
Jenna Kastell being named once.
Since the release, ESU has begun competing in the PSAC Tournament, shutting out Edinboro in the quarterfinals, 4-0. The team matches up against Slippery Rock in the quarterfinals at 1 p.m. on Friday, May 1, at Bloomsburg, P.a.
