LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – For the first time in her young career,
Jenna Kastell has been named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) East Athlete of the Week, announced by the conference on Monday.
Kastell helped ESU continue its dominant spring season, leading the Warriors to two wins in two duals this week. In singles play as ESU's No. 3, she only dropped one game the entire week, winning 6-1, 6-0 over Scranton's Erin O'Mara, then sweeping Shippensburg's Rachel Gallagher with two 6-0 victories.
In doubles play against the Raiders, she picked up a 7-6 win with a 7-2 tiebreak over Ava Kalist and Yasmin De Meyer. The Warriors opened up PSAC East play with a 7-0 win over the Raiders, winning every match in the dual.
Kastell improved to 10-4 on the year in singles play, and has been a key contributor to the Warriors' 9-1 start to the spring, as ESU is riding a six-dual winning streak.
Kastell and the Warriors look to continue this streak as they face off next at Kutztown in a conference matchup on Tuesday at 3 p.m.
