LOCK HAVEN, Pa. — On Tuesday afternoon, the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) announced that
Alexis Neumen was named the PSAC Defensive Athlete of the Week for her performance in the Warriors' 19-9 win over No. 16 Kutztown.
Neumen was one of the ESU's most impactful players in the midfield and defensive on Saturday. She set a career-high in caused turnovers, forcing four to hold the Golden Bears to single-digit goals while fueling ESU's transition attack. On top of her defensive persistence, she secured two ground balls and draw controls each. Her play on Saturday and all season has been a pivotal factor in the Warriors' 12-game winning streak, the longest in program history to start a year.
This is Neumen's first PSAC Athlete of the Week nod, the ninth time a Warrior has earned the honor this year. She becomes the fifth different ESU player this season to be named a PSAC East Athlete or Defensive Athlete of the Week, joining
Sadie Kauffman,
Paige Moreland,
Abby Simonetti, and
Molly Atwell. Since March 10, ESU has earned eight of the 10 weekly PSAC East awards.
The Warriors look to continue their dominance and set a new program record for longest winning streak in their next game against Bloomsburg. ESU travels to take on the Huskies at 3 p.m. tomorrow, April 8, in Bloomsburg, Pa.
