KUTZTOWN, Pa. – The Warriors traveled to Kutztown for a Tuesday afternoon conference dual, coming out on top with a 6-1 victory. The win elevates ESU to 13-4 on the season, 2-0 in conference play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Warriors set the tone for the day with their performance in doubles action. The duo of
Nia Vivas Montoya and
Bega Gotor kicked things off with a 6-2 set win. Following was
Theresa Bauer and
Lea Stefanovic taking their set, 6-1, to clinch the doubles point for ESU.
Rounding out the doubles matches was
Jenna Kastell and
Ariel Kelsick, who also earned a 6-2 win, giving East Stroudsburg the doubles sweep.
Singles play saw much of the same dominance from the Warriors, starting with Kelsick sweeping her opponent from the No. 2 position in the lineup, while Kastell did the same as the No. 3. Continuing this trend was
Alice Ehrenlechner, solidifying the dual win for ESU.
Gotor managed to keep her opponent from taking a game in the first set and only allowed two to be taken as she won the second. Pulling off another shutout for the Warriors was
Audrey Conover.
Stefanovic faced the toughest match of the day as it quickly turned into a hard-fought battle from both sides. The sophomore put up a strong fight in the first set, but fell just short, missing out on it, 7-5. She rallied back in the second, coming out on top in the 6-4 set, pushing the match to a super tiebreaker. She found herself down early, answering it with a strong comeback attempt that ended up just not being enough as she fell, 10-6.

The Warriors will look to extend their seven-game win streak and continue their conference dominance against Millersville in the home matchup on Saturday at 1 p.m.
