BLOOMSBURG, Pa. — In a program-record 13
th-straight win, the ESU women's lacrosse team took down Bloomsburg 22-7 on the road Wednesday afternoon.
NOTABLES
- Jolee Roth had the best game of her career as a distributor, finishing with seven assists. In addition to a career-best performance in assists, she found the back of the net twice.
- Ariana Tucci scored five times and dished out two helpers for seven points. That marked the third time this season she's finished with five or more goals, and came one point shy of matching her season-high.
- Sadie Kauffman had an identical point total as Tucci, also recording five goals and a pair of assists. She also added at least eight draw controls for the sixth-straight game, excluding versus Shepherd, in which she only played nine minutes.
- Lauren Hallman and Katie Bullen each scored four times today, as Hallman also recorded an assist. Hallman added two ground ball pickups, while Bullen secured four draw controls.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Huskies got on the board first in the opening minute, but ESU would still outscore Bloomsburg by seven heading into the second quarter. Delaney Fox scored 51 seconds in, but the Huskies were held off the scoreboard for the remainder of the frame. Tucci tied things up, dodging down the right side and shooting just inside the left post. Kauffman then scored three straight goals herself in the span of 1:48. Roth got her first assist off of Tucci's second goal of the day, then Kauffman's fourth was followed by two goals from Hallman to end the quarter.
- After ESU started the second quarter with a goal from Hallman and Tucci to complete their hat tricks, Bloomsburg scored three of the next four to make it 11-4. In the final 3:02, the Warriors increased their lead to double-digits, as Tucci scored twice, and Bullen and Roth each netted one to make it 15-4 at the break.
- Both teams scored three goals each in the third quarter, but a fourth-quarter shutout helped ESU bleed the clock in the final 15 minutes. Roth assisted on the first three goals of the quarter for ESU, as Kauffman's 66th of the season would be the final goal of the game.
GAME NOTES
- The Warriors broke a nine-year-old record with their 13th win in a row, breaking the mark of 12 consecutive wins set in 2017. They are now tied for the 14th-longest winning streak in PSAC history with the chance to tie Millersville's 14-straight wins, which was set across the 1989 and 1990 seasons, in their next time out against the Marauders.
- Roth's seven assists were not only a career high, but tied the second-most in a game in ESU history. She matched Lauren Nunes' totals against Kutztown and Shippensburg in 2016, and Lauren Green's seven versus Mercyhurst in 2017. Additionally, she's now tied for the second-most career assists in program history as well. Now with 96, she's tied with Kiki Fitzpatrick, and only trails Nunes, who stands at the top with 114.
