SPARKS, Md. — While still pushing for a national championship, the ESU women's lacrosse team had four athletes named USA Lacrosse All-Americans on Tuesday afternoon. Attacker
Sadie Kauffman and goalkeeper
Abby Simonetti earned First Team honors, while attacker
Ariana Tucci and defender
Molly Atwell were named to the Third Team.
ESU's four All-Americans were tied for the fifth-most in Division II, while the two First Team nods make ESU one of three schools, alongside Florida Southern and Flagler, to have two members on the top squad. All-Americans were chosen by USA Lacrosse Magazine staff with input from coaches and conferences across the country.
Kauffman, the PSAC East Athlete of the Week, checks in with 129 points on 97 goals and 32 assists. The do-it-all attacker ranks tied for second in Division II in points, matching her program record from last season, as her 147 draw controls rank sixth in the country as well. Kauffman earned Offensive Player of the Week honors from USA Lacrosse Magazine twice this season, on February 24 and April 7, along with two of the same awards from the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) and the PSAC East.
Both Simonetti and Kauffman were named All-Americans by USA Lacrosse Magazine last season as well, with Simonetti making back-to-back First Team appearances and Kauffman jumping up from the Second Team. Simonetti currently has a .586 SV%, which would rank first in Division II. Now in her third season at ESU, she's been named an All-American each year, paired with a resume that includes IWLCA Division II Goalkeeper of the Year, NCAA All-Tournament Team, and PSAC East Defensive Athlete of the Year.
Tucci has built on her first season after making All-Region and All-PSAC East Second Team, taking another step with 93 points on 66 goals and 27 assists this year. She's in the midst of the ninth-highest scoring season in program history, as well as the eighth-most goals in a season too. She ranks 17
th in goals and 18
th in points in Division II.
Atwell, Kauffman, and Simonetti were all named Preseason All-Americans, with each of them making the final cut nearing the end of the 2026 season. Atwell was recently named the IWLCA Defensive Athlete of the Week for her play in the Atlantic Region Semifinal win over No. 10 West Chester, securing a career-high 13 draw controls. She leads ESU in both ground balls and caused turnovers, recording 39 and 35, respectively. This marks Atwell's first time being named an All-American after consecutive All-PSAC East First Team honors.
