LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) announced Friday that the East Stroudsburg University softball team earned three NFCA Division II All-Atlantic Region First Team selections. This is the second consecutive year and second time in program history that the team has had three First Team selections.
Sarah Davenport (P) earned her third straight First Team honors, Delaney Ridgell (C) repeated as a First Team selection, while Kinsley Proepper (1B) earned her first First Team honor.
The trio was previously named to the All-PSAC East First Team last week. The Warriors are hosting a pod in the NCAA Tournament Atlantic Regional this weekend as the No. 2 seed.
Davenport is 24-10 with a 1.98 ERA and has struck out 296 batters through 216.0 innings pitched. She has pitched 27 complete games and earned three saves, while allowing a .200 opponent batting average. Davenport has pitched 14 games with double-digit strikeouts, while recording a season-high of 14 twice.
The junior became just one of five pitchers in the PSAC to surpass 1,000 career strikeouts, pitching her 1,000th against IUP in last weekend's PSAC Tournament.
Davenport has totaled three weekly PSAC honors and one NFCA DII Pitcher of the Week honors this season. She earned national recognition after she delivered the third perfect game of her career against Shepherd on April 11.
Ridgell posted the best season of her career at the plate this year, batting .425, with a .656 slugging percentage. Starting in all 52 games she's played in, she led the team in hits with 68, scored 36 runs, batted in 37, and hit 11 doubles and eight home runs.
Behind the plate at catcher, she had a near perfect defensive season. She recorded 277 putouts and 21 assists, posting a .997 fielding percentage, the best among defensive players in the PSAC with 200 or more putouts. Ridgell earned her first career PSAC East Athlete of the Week honor on March 16.
Starting in all 54 games she's appeared in, Proepper ranks second on the team with a .412 batting average, totaling 63 hits that included a 27-game hitting streak. She scored 30 runs, batted in 34, led the team with 13 doubles, and hit seven home runs.
At first base, Proepper was about as dependable as any defender, recording 311 putouts and 12 assists for a .979 fielding percentage.
