ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Following the conclusion of the national championship game,
Sadie Kauffman and
Emily Varilla were named to the Division II Women's Lacrosse All-Tournament Team by the NCAA.
Leading ESU to its fifth National Semifinal appearance and Atlantic Region Championship, the Warriors finished the season with a 20-2 record. Kauffman, who was named a First Team All-American by both the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association and USA Lacrosse Magazine, paced ESU with 20 points on 18 goals and two assists in three games. Additionally, she secured 35 draw controls, caused five turnovers, and picked up five ground balls.
Varilla was one of the defense's leaders, helping the Warriors win their Atlantic Region games by eight- and six-goal margins. Her impact went beyond the box score, helping limit Kutztown's three leading scorers to just four combined points in ESU's quarterfinal game. She ended the tournament with four ground balls, two draw controls, and a caused turnover.
Varilla is the first ESU defender to be named to an NCAA Division II All-Tournament Team, while she and Kauffman are the eighth and ninth Warriors to earn the honor. They join attackers Gianna LeDuc (2022) and Krista Mitarotonda (2018), midfielders Emily Mitarotonda (2024, 2022, 2021), Maddie Heck (2022), and Hana Cicerelle (2021), and goalies
Abby Simonetti (2024) and
Tatyana Petteway (2018).
