LOCK HAVEN, Pa. -- The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) announced Thursday afternoon that East Stroudsburg standout Shannon Harnett was named the PSAC Women's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Year.
Harnett capped another standout season with a First Team All-America finish in the high jump at the 2026 NCAA Division II Outdoor Championships. She placed sixth in the high jump and 17th in the long jump. At the PSAC Championships, Harnett totaled 19 points in field events, finishing second in the triple jump, third in the long jump, and fourth in the high jump.
Throughout the season, Harnett set new school records in both the long jump and the triple jump. On April 16 at Shippensburg's Mid-Week PR Bonanza, Harnett broke the school record in the triple jump. On her final attempt, Harnett delivered a mark of 12.40m (40 feet, 8 ¼ inches) which broke her previous school record of 12.13m (39 feet, 9 ¾ inches) she set in 2025. On May 1 at the PSAC Championships, she broke the school record in the long jump, surpassing Aspen Gaita's previous mark of 5.83m (19 feet, 1 ½ inches) set in 2018. Harnett's mark of 5.86m (19 feet, 2 3/4 inches) earned her All-PSAC honors.
Harnett was named PSAC Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week on April 7 and April 21 following standout performances at ESU's All-American Meet and Shippensburg's Mid-Week PR Bonanza.
She also earned USTFCCCA Atlantic Region Women's Field Athlete of the Year honors, repeating the distinction she earned during the indoor season. The outdoor award marks Harnett's first PSAC Outdoor Field Athlete of the Year honor, adding to her two PSAC Indoor Field Athlete of the Year awards.
