Cross Country Teams Add 11 Newcomers for the 2026 Season

EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. -- The East Stroudsburg University women's and men's cross country teams have announced the addition of 11 newcomers for the 2026 season. 

Men's Team Additions 
Max Kelly, a native of Starrucca, Pa., graduated from Susquehanna Community High School and will be majoring in economics at ESU. Kelly is a PIAA XC State medalist, a District 2 All-Star in both cross country and track & field, and a member of the National Honor Society. He set school records in the 800m, 1600m, 3200m, 3k, and 5k.

Jacob McGhee joins the Warriors after spending the past season at PennWest California and will major in nursing. McGhee is from Harrison City, Pa. and graduated from Penn Trafford High School. In high school, McGhee was a member of the National Honor Society and recorded a notable time of 4:14 in the mile. At the 2025 PSAC Championships, he ran a 27:13.0 time in the 8k and a time of 33:13.5 in the 10k at the NCAA DII Atlantic Regional.

Colton Rearick, a native of Butler, Pa., graduated from Mars Area High School and will major in business management at ESU. Rearick is a two-time captain and a state qualifier in track & field. He also is a recipient of the U.S. Navy Scholar-Athlete award.

Ethan Willard, a mid-year transfer from Monmouth University, will join the ESU cross country program this fall. A member of the ESU track & field team, Willard placed ninth in the DMR at the 2026 PSAC Indoor Championships and finished 11th in the 1,500m at the 2026 PSAC Outdoor Championships. A native of Orefield, Pa., Willard was a three-time PIAA cross country state qualifier at Parkland High School. He captured EPC and District XI championships in the 3,200m while helping the team to three EPC and District XI team titles. In the classroom, he was recognized as a National Merit honoree. 

Women's Team Additions 
Abigail Rowland, a native of Pennsburg, Pa., graduated from Faith Christian Academy and will major in nursing at ESU. Rowland is a nine-time state qualifier and a two-time state medalist. She recorded notable times of 18:57 in the 5k and 5:12 in the 1600m in high school. Rowland was a member of the Summa Cum Laude Honor Society.

Cassidy Donovan, a native of Blauvelt, N.Y., joins the program after spending the past season at the University of Delaware. Donovan graduated from Tappan Zee High School and was an All-League, All-County, All-Section, and an All-State athlete. She was part of a cross country team state championship, placed third at the state meet in the 2k steeplechase, and placed second in the 4x800m at the NYS meet. She will major in physical education and minor in Spanish at ESU.

Brenna Heelan, a native of Waldwick, N.J., graduated from Waldwick High School and will major in exercise science at ESU. Heelan is a three-time First Team All-League XC runner, was voted the top senior XC runner in N.J., and was selected as a NJSIAA recipient for National Women in Sports Day. She was on the honor roll and recorded notable performances in the 1600m, 3200m, and the 5k in high school while helping break 11 school records.

Jaelyn Chrysler, a native of Apalachin, N.Y., graduated from the Owego Free Academy and will major in psychology and minor in sports psychology at ESU. Chrysler was named the 2023 Greater Binghamton Runner of the Year, 2025 Tioga County Sports Report Runner of the Year, and earned a handful of OFA Block'O Awards, making her one of the most decorated distance runners in OFA history. She was an 11-time state qualifier and a two-time state medalist, an individual sectional champion, and was part of a team sectional championship. In the classroom, she was her class salutatorian, earned high honor roll recognition, received an AP Scholar Award and the Social Studies Department Award, and won the FCCB Scholarship Challenge.

Amanda Harvey, a native of West Milford, N.J., graduated from West Milford High School and will major in early childhood/special education. Harvey was an All-County athlete in both cross country and track & field, part of two cross country conference championships, a two-time cross country champion, and a track conference champion in the 3200m. This past season, Harvey set a school record of 18:06 in the 5k at the conference championships.  

Katie Kozich, a native of Mountain Top, Pa., graduated from Crestwood High School and will major in education at ESU.  Kozich is a three-time Wyoming Valley All-Star, two-time PIAA State medalist, two-time team district champions, and a Citizens Voice Athlete of the Week. In the classroom, Kozich was a member of the National Honor Society and the National Business Honor Society. 

Erin Smith, a native of Highland Falls, N.Y., graduated from James I O'Neill and will major in early childhood education at ESU. Smith was a four-year member of the varsity cross country and track & field teams and won multiple Section 9 Class B and C medals. Smith was the recipient of the 2026 Robin Haberman Award for her dedication, leadership, and service to her school's community. She was also named the girls cross country most valuable team member in both 2025 and 2026. Smith was a member of the National Honor Society and was a recipient of multiple awards, showcasing her academic and athletic accomplishments.
