Arias' Attack Leads Warriors to Shutout Win

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – With the help of Steven Arias' two-goal performance, the Warriors' heavy attack was too much for the Jefferson Rams to handle as ESU took the 2-0 shutout win on Wednesday afternoon. With the victory the Warriors elevate to a 2-1 record on the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • There was certainly no lack of offense, especially at the start, as Jefferson tallied two shots with three straight ESU shots in between by the 10th minute. A Phil Sykes save on a header gave the Warriors the momentum they needed to drive down the field, giving Jace Seara the opportunity to take a shot. On the rebound of the save, Arias found the back of the net to put ESU on the board in the 23rd minute.
  • The Warriors showed no signs of slowing down with another shot not long after restarting play. The Rams were struggling to keep up with the persistence of the ESU attack, allowing Arias to score his second goal of the game off an assist from Ryan Kiernan
  • To round out the half, the Warriors were able to get a few more looks at the net but were unable to connect, leaving them up 2-0 heading into halftime.
  • ESU's defense remained strong through the second half, not allowing another shot to be put up against them until just before the 63rd minute. Meanwhile the Warriors stayed on the attack, putting up two more shots before Jefferson got their last look in the 79th minute.

GAME NOTES
  • Arias' two goals are the first of his career at East Stroudsburg. He's also the first Warrior to score multiple goals so far this season.
  • This game marked Sykes' first shutout of the year and the third of his career.
  • Five different ESU players put up two or more shots with Seara leading the category with four shots of his own. The list also includes Arias, Kiernan, Owen Rennie, and Jeter Cardona. In total, the Warriors put up twice as many shots as the Rams.

UP NEXT
ESU looks to carry this momentum into their first home matchup of the season against Queens at 1 p.m. on Saturday at Eiler-Martin Stadium.
