EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. — In a fast and physical game against Queens College, the Warriors were unable to keep up, falling 5-1 on Saturday afternoon. With the loss, men's soccer drops to 2-2 on the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Knights took no time to establish their offense, getting their first look of the game just seconds in. For ESU,
Owen Rennie was the driving force of its early attack, getting the Warriors their first two looks by the 11th minute. After a shot from
Jose Rosario, Queens made a hard charge down the field to find the back of the net for the first time in the 16th minute.
• Both teams held their own defensively with the Knights getting just two shots on goal and ESU recording one in the 16 minutes after the goal. The 35
th minute saw Queens score its second goal of the game from a corner kick scenario. Each side attempted a late attempt to score before the end of the half, but both were unsuccessful.
• The Warriors came out of the half focused. Just three minutes after kickoff,
Jeter Cardona found
Steven Arias in position to get ESU on the board and make it a one-goal game.
• Looking to tie up the game, the Warriors remained persistent with their attack while halting the Knights on defense. For the next 30 minutes, ESU outshot Queens 6-2, but were unable to capitalize. There wasn't another score for either side until the 81st minute when the Knights seemed to regain their stride from the first half. They buried two goals within 21 seconds of each other, building a three-goal lead to separate themselves from the Warriors.
• The Warriors tried to create opportunities to mount a rally, but none of the chances found the net and in the waning minutes, Queens put another goal on the board to seal the game.
GAME NOTES
• Seven total ESU players took a look at the net with Rennie and Cardona recording six and five looks respectively. Four of Rennie's shots were on goal, the most of anyone on the team.
Joey Scalia followed with two then Arias with one.

Phil Sykes faced a career-high 16 goals, making the play to save six of them to tie his career high in the category.
• Both teams played physically with each notching 16 fouls as well as five total yellow cards being handed out. Receiving those for ESU was
Ryan Kiernan and
AJ Rivera while the other three went to the Knights.
