Sam Dunphy Honored as PSAC Volleyball Central Athlete of the Week

ESU Women's Volleyball Athlete of the Week History

EAST STROUDSBURG – East Stroudsburg University senior right-side hitter Sam Dunphy was announced on Monday as the PSAC Volleyball Central Athlete of the Week, marking the third time this season that she has garnered the award.

Dunphy (Camp Hill, Pa./Cedar Cliff) recorded 46 kills on the week, including 18 against Kutztown on Tuesday and 18 against Bloomsburg on Saturday. She also joined the 250 kills, 250 digs club for a single-season at ESU and recorded her 100th block of the season on Saturday.
 
She averaged 4.18 kills per set on the week and hit. 295 as she helped ESU go 3-0 to close the 2019 regular-season. Dunphy added 40 digs on the week to go along with 11 blocks, including seven against the Bald Eagles on Saturday.
 
This is the ninth time this season that an ESU student-athlete has won the Athlete of the Week award. The Warriors have also garnered a pair of Defensive Athlete of the Week awards.
 
ESU (26-6, 16-3 PSAC) is making its second-straight appearance in the PSAC Volleyball Championship after qualifying for the tournament in 2018 for the first time since 2008. The Warriors won their most conference matches (16) and recorded double-digit conference wins for just the third time in program history.
 
The Warriors host Seton Hill on Tuesday night at 7 p.m. inside Koehler Fieldhouse. The winner of Tuesday's matchup between the Warriors and Griffins will face either Shippensburg or Clarion on Friday in the semifinals. Shippensburg secured the No. 2 seed in the tournament, while Clarion enters as the No. 7 seed.
 
Admission for all PSAC Volleyball Championship matches will be $10 for adults and $5 for children. There is no admission charge for students with a valid I.D. from a PSAC school or those with a PSAC Pass.
