12/18/2025 2:52:00 PM

EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. — Tricia Melfy, East Stroudsburg University women's volleyball head coach, has been named the women's volleyball head coach at Winona State, the University announced on Thursday afternoon.

"I am delighted for Coach Melfy that she gets the opportunity to work for a great athtletic department in Winona State," Director of Athletics Dr. Allen G. Snook Jr. said. "They are getting an extremely talented coach who has developed our program over the past five years both on and off the court. We are sad to lose her but we are excited for this new opportunity that's been presented to her."

Melfy helped the ESU women's volleyball team reach new heights during the 2025 season. The Warriors won their sixth PSAC Championship, first since 2019, and went 27-6 while making it to the second round of the NCAA Division II Atlantic Region Tournament. ESU also won their first NCAA Tournament game, defeating Charleston in the first round. Melfy, the 2025 AVCA Atlantic Region Coach of the Year, leaves ESU with a 102-46 record since taking over prior to the 2021 season, which ranks second in program history in wins and winning percentage.

"I am incredibly grateful to ESU for the opportunity to lead the volleyball program over the last six years," Melfy said. "It has been an honor to work with tremendous student athletes. Not only because of their incredible accomplishments on the court, but also their character, commitment and support of each other.  The future of ESU volleyball is bright, and I will be supporting them and cheering for them from afar!"

A national search for ESU's next women's volleyball head coach will begin immediately.
