Giangrasso, Closs and Webster Register First-Place Finishes at Golden Bear Invitational

KUTZTOWN, Pa. – Sam Giangrasso, Me'Saj Closs and Tiana Webster each posted first-place finishes to lead the East Stroudsburg University women's track & field team at the Golden Bear Invitational on Friday at O'Pake Fieldhouse.

Giangrasso won the weight throw, setting a new personal record in the event with a toss of 53-1 ¾, which put her in third place on ESU's all-time top-10 list. Closs took first place in the shot put with a mark of 40-9, as she earned a PSAC qualifying bid with the toss. Webster was the other Warrior to claim a first-place finish at the meet, winning the 55m dash in a time of 7.31 to qualify for PSACs in the event. Webster's time was just .01 seconds off of her PR (7.30), which she set last season.

Tatiana Williams had a pair of impressive performances for ESU in the triple jump and high jump. The senior set a new PR in the triple jump with a mark of 36-10 ¼, which was good for second place and earned her a PSAC qualifying bid in the event. Her leap placed her in sixth on ESU's all-time top-10 in the event. Williams also posted a PSAC qualifying mark in the high jump with a mark of 5-2 ¼, which earned her a third-place showing.

The Warriors had a pair of new PSAC qualifiers in the 55m hurdles, led by Jeanette Jones, who earned a second-place finish with a time of 8.77. The mark tied Jones' PR in the event, which is also the ninth-best in program history. Following Jones was Misha Duverger, who qualified for PSACs with a time of 9.13 in the prelims. She followed it up with a 9.24 in the finals heat to take fifth place.

In the pole vault, freshman Nickolina Annelli placed third with a mark of 10-10, which moved the rookie into fifth place on ESU's top-10 list in the event. Fellow freshman Hannah Frankenfield was next up for the Warriors in the pole vault, placing fifth with a 10-4.

Taylor Allen was the team's top finisher in the 200m, racing to a second-place showing with a time of 28.41. Ariel Kyle (29.26) and Delise Barnes (30.10) finished fifth and sixth in the event, respectively.

In the 400m, Jones earned ESU's top time, clocking in at 1:05.01 to collect fourth place. 

The long jump saw Gianna Gomez register the team's top placement with a mark of 16-5 ¼.  

The Warriors return to action on January 18 at the Moravian Invitational in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.
