STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. – The East Stroudsburg University women's track & field team registered seven top-five finishes at the Fasttrack National Invitational on Friday night in a crowded field that included many Division I programs.
Tatiana Williams won the high jump as she cleared 5-3 to match her PR in the event and take the top spot.
Me'Saj Closs and
Sam Giangrasso had impressive showings in the weight throw, as the duo both finished top-three in the event. Closs' toss of 55-1 ½ earned her a second-place finish, while Giangrasso's mark of 52-1 ¼ got her third place. Closs also finished third in the shot put with her mark of 42-1 ½.
The Warriors also finished 2-3 in the pole vault, led by
Hannah Frankenfield, who cleared 10-11 ¾ to place second.
Nickolina Annelli posted a third-place showing with a mark of 10-6.
In the 60m,
Tiana Webster raced to a fourth-place finish with a time of 7.67. Webster ran a 7.65 earlier this season which previously earned her an NCAA provisionally-qualifying time in the event. In preliminary heats,
Morgan Dey posted a 7.95 in the 60m dash. Webster also posted ESU's top performance in the 200m invite portion, as her time of 26.19 placed her in 11
th.
Brittany Carratura registered ESU's top showing in the 800m with a PR of 2:22.16.
Jeanette Jones also notched a PR at the meet, racing to a 9.34 in the 60m hurdles.
ESU's relay squad of
Ariel Kyle, Jones,
Allyson Stitzer and
Sarah Klag posted a season-best time for the Warriors in the 4x400m relay, clocking in at 4:04.70 to take sixth place.
Klag was also the team's top finisher in the 400m, registering a 59.57 for her best time of the season in the event.
In the triple jump, Williams had ESU's best finish as she leaped to a 36-11 ¾, while
Thressia Nixon posted a 35-3 ¼.
The 3000m saw
Mandy Fine post the Warriors top showing, registering a time of 10:57.27.
The Warriors head to their final meet before PSAC Championships, traveling to Kutztown for the Last Chance Qualifier next Friday, February 21.
