KUTZTOWN, Pa. – Senior
Tatiana Williams broke the East Stroudsburg University women's track and field indoor school record in the triple jump to highlight competition for the Warriors on Friday at the Kutztown Last Chance Qualifier.
On Williams' third attempt in the triple jump, she posted a mark of 38-1 ½ to break the school record, which was previously held by ESU women's Head Coach
Quanette Ford, who registered a 37-7 back in 2000. Williams' mark, which is the third-longest in the PSAC this season, earned her a first-place finish.
Williams also was ESU's top performer in the high jump, placing second in the event after clearing 5-1. Her season-best mark of 5-3 set at the Gulden Invitational is also top-10 in the conference this year.
The Warriors had three new PSAC qualifying marks on Friday, with Isabella Marta claiming a pair. The freshman earned a qualifying bid with her toss of 40-3 ¼ in the shot put, as she claimed first place in the event and also moved inside ESU's all-time top-10 in the process.
Olivia Ellzy, who was already a PSAC qualifier in the event, took second place with her throw of 39-2 ¼.
In the weight throw,
Sam Giangrasso had a first-place showing with a toss of 51-8 ½, while
Alexis Schuldes finished third with a 43-10 ¾. Marte became ESU's newest PSAC qualifier in the event with a mark of 43-7, while
Taylor Barkman placed fifth with a 43-6. The Warriors now have eight PSAC qualifiers in the weight throw, their most in any event.
Tiana Webster was once again ESU's top finisher in the 55m dash, taking first place in 7.24. She has the team's top time in the event this season, as she clocked in at 7.19 during the DeSchriver. Briana Randolph earned a new PSAC qualifying bid with her time of 7.35 in prelims. She followed it up with a 7.41 during the finals to earn a third-place showing.
In the long jump,
Kamya Edmonds posted a PR of 17-5 ½, which is the best by any ESU competitor in the event this season. Her performance earned her a third-place finish.
ESU tallied two other top-three showings on the night, as
Sarah Klag took third in the 200m (27.19) and
Erin Grucelski finished third in the 400m (1:03.99).
In the 3000m, freshman
