EAST STROUDSBURG – Freshman Tatyana Ortiz and freshman Joanne Ortiz are both ranked in the top eight of their respective weight classes for the East Stroudsburg University women's wrestling team in the latest National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) Women's Individual Rankings, released on Wednesday.

ESU (1-4) entered the NWCA Tournament Team Rankings for the first time in program history as the Warriors tallied 21 points to place ninth out of 11 recognized programs across NCAA Division II. The Warriors are the lone team from the PSAC to appear in the tournament rankings, while Gannon ranks seventh in the dual meet rankings.

Tatyana Ortiz moved up to the No. 2 position at 109 pounds for ESU. She is 6-3 overall on the season for the Warriors. Ortiz is 4-0 in dual competition and has three wins via fall with two coming against third-ranked Sugey Ceja from Tiffin and seventh-ranked Aleeah Gould from King (TN).

Joanne Ortiz is ranked fourth at 101 pounds and is 2-0 on the season for ESU after joining the Warriors at the beginning of the spring semester. Both of her victories have come in duals and via falls as she pinned Tiffin's Trinity Oredina on January 24 and Springfield Tech's Olivia Meehan on February 8.

ESU will head to Adrian, Michigan this weekend for the Inaugural Cliff Keen National Collegiate Women's Wrestling Championships. The tournament, which will be held on March 6-7, will be hosted by Adrian College.
