LAS VEGAS, Nev. — Members of both ESU men's and women's wrestling competed in the 2026 U.S. Open, as four Warriors wrestled in the USA Women's Senior Nationals and U20 Men's National Championships. Additionally, Assistant Coach
Ciovel Cuevas finished fifth in the Men's Master National Championship.
Cuevas went 2-2 in the Master Greco Division B bracket, wrestling at 70 kg. After a first-round bye, he won by technical fall, 9-0, 1:44, against Vic De La Cruz. After falling by a 7-3 decision to Marcus Priolo, he took on Stefan Catalan, falling 8-1 in a decision loss. In the fifth-place match, he earned a medical forfeit win over Christopher Hunt.
Staying on the men's side,
Brendan Ridge went 1-2 in the U20 bracket, wrestling at 79 kg. He fell to Max Wirnsberger by technical fall, dropping the match 10-0 in 2:57. He bounced back by defeating Nikita Smatov, but lost on a tiebreaker in a 6-6 decision loss to Sebastian Martinez.
From the women's team,
Teegan Sibble went 2-2 at 50 kg. In her first match after a first-round bye, she pinned Navjot Waraich in 0:57. Sibble got knocked to the consolation bracket after a technical fall loss to Kendra Ryan with a match score of 14-4 in 2:41, and won a high-scoring decision match over Kayla McKinley-Johnson, 16-15. However, in her last match, Charlotte Fowler defeated Sibble with a 12-2, 5:57 technical fall win. In the same bracket,
Olivia Klein went 0-2, falling to Karina Vang and Damiyah Smith in two losses by technical falls.
Wrapping up the event for ESU's wrestlers was
Tiffani Baublitz, who went 1-2 in the 72 kg bracket. In her first match, she defeated Julia Chambers 10-0 by technical fall in 2:04. However, she forfeited her next match, then was defeated 8-0 by Mikayla Lancaster.
