MANHEIM, Pa. -- The National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) released their first regular season coaches rankings of the season for NCAA women's wrestling, as the East Stroudsburg University women's wrestling team is tied for the No. 15 spot with Schreiner, William Jewell and Lock Haven. The NWCA also announced that ESU junior Joanne Ortiz was ranked No. 8 at 101 lbs.
Through the first month of the season, the Warriors hold a dual meet record of 2-1, posting wins over Elmira and Lock Haven, while falling to now No. 14 NJCU.
In limited action this season, Ortiz has a 2-1 record this season. She picked up a forfeit against Elmira, and tallied a tech fall (10-0) against Samantha Reitnour. Her lone loss came out of her weight class, when Ortiz moved up to 109 against NJCU's Johnae Drumright.
The Warriors close the 2021 part of its schedule this Sunday, Dec. 5 at the Aggie Dual against Delaware Valley and Elmira.
