Baseball Announces Schedule for 2022 Season

EAST STROUDSBURG – Entering his 15th at the helm of the East Stroudsburg University team, head coach John Kochmansky announced a 49-game schedule for the upcoming 2022 season. The schedule features 26 home contests at Creekview Park and begins on February 12 against Barton in Wilson, N.C.

The Warriors open the season with a doubleheader against the Bulldogs on Feb. 12 and wrap up the three-game series against Barton the following day at 1 p.m. from Nixon Field. ESU travels back down south the following week for the Dinwiddie Challenge in Chester, Virginia for twin bills on Feb. 19 versus Saint Anselm and on Feb. 20 against Saint Rose.

ESU returns to the Pocono's in the final week of February for the Early Bird Classic with a single nine-inning game vs. Clarion on the 26th at 1 p.m.  followed by a doubleheader against Bloomfield on the 27th beginning at 10 a.m.

The Warriors continue their eight-game home stand on March 1 with a pair of games against USciences starting at noon before welcoming Ohio Dominican to Creekview Park for a three-game series on March 5 & 6. Saturday's twin bill is set for 11 a.m. while Sunday's first pitch is scheduled for noon.

Following a mid-week trip to Felician on March 8 (1 p.m.), ESU is back at Creekview Park on March 12 & 13 for a pair of doubleheaders against PSAC-West foe Pitt-Johnstown.

ESU officially begins conference play on March 18 when they welcome the Raiders for a single nine-inning game at 2 p.m. before hitting the road the following day for a twin bill at Shippensburg starting at noon.

The Warriors head to Mansfield on March 26 for a single game at 2 p.m. against the Mounties before shifting to Creekview Park for a doubleheader on March 29. To open April, ESU follows a similar schedule with a trip to Millersville on April 1 before welcoming the Marauders for a pair of games on April 2 at noon.

ESU hosts Molloy in one of their last non-conference games on April 5 before heading to the defending PSAC champions Bloomsburg on April 8 and then back home the next day for two more against the Huskies starting at 12 p.m.

The Warriors are back on the road for two more non-conference games against Saint Rose on April 12 and Post on April 14. ESU makes a quick trip home for a single game against West Chester on April 15 at 2 p.m. before a twin bill at the Golden Ram's the following day beginning at noon.

Felician makes their way to Creekview Park on April 20 and Kutztown follows two days later before the Warriors hit the road for a twin bill with the Golden Bears on April 23 at 12 p.m.

The Warriors stay on the road for a single game against Lock Haven on April 29 and return home on April 30 at noon for a doubleheader versus the Bald Eagles.

ESU plays their final non-conference game of the season on May 3 at Molloy before closing out their schedule with Shepherd at home on May 6 at 2 p.m. and trip to West Virginia on May 7 for a doubleheader against the Rams getting underway at noon.

The top-four seeds from the PSAC East and West will advance to the conference tournament that will be hosted by Slippery Rock from May 11-14. The 2022 PSAC Baseball Championship will feature a single elimination in the first round and a double elimination for the remainder of the tournament.

ESU concluded the 2021 campaign 15-15-1 overall as the Warriors battled through a number of schedule changes due to COVID-19. The Warriors captured the PSAC championship in 2013 and finished as runner-ups back in 2015. ESU has advanced to the NCAA Division II Tournament three times (2011, 13, 16) under Kochmansky.
