GREENSBORO, N.C. — The American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) announced its recipients for the 2025-26 ABCA Team Academic Excellence Award on Wednesday morning, honoring East Stroudsburg as one of the 91 Division II member institutions to receive the award.
 
In order to be eligible, teams must have a head coach who is a current ABCA member and post a minimum cumulative team GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale for the 2025-26 academic year. The ABCA recognized over 800 total programs, including nearly 500 collegiate teams and more than 320 high school programs.
 
This marks the third time in the award's 11-year history that ESU has received the honor, with all three coming in the last five seasons. The Warriors were one of six PSAC member institutions to earn the award as well, joined by California (Pa.), Gannon, Seton Hill, Slippery Rock, and West Chester.
 
In addition to making its fifth straight appearance in the NCAA Tournament, winning a share of the PSAC East Regular Season title, and numerous regional and conference accolades, the Warriors took home plenty of academic awards as well. ESU had four College Sports Communicators Academic All-District honorees in early June, with Troy Davis, Ryan Dewees, Braydon Hubbard, and Ethan Woods making the team. The next day, Davis and Dewees were named to the inaugural PSAC Academic All-Conference Spring Team, giving East Stroudsburg 71 honorees in total. Lastly, the ESU baseball team had 31 of its players be named PSAC Scholar Athletes, helping East Stroudsburg lead the conference in total recipients for the second consecutive year.
 
The American Baseball Coaches Association has a long tradition of recognizing the achievements of baseball coaches and student-athletes. The ABCA/Rawlings All-America Teams are the nation's oldest, founded in 1949, and the ABCA's awards program also includes the ABCA/Rawlings All-Region Awards, the ABCA/ATEC Regional & National Coaches of the Year and several other major awards such as the ABCA Hall of Fame and the Dave Keilitz Ethics in Coaching Award.
