MILLERSVILLE, Pa. – The East Stroudsburg University women's track and field team kicked off the 2021 outdoor season on Saturday with a third-place finish at the 38th annual Millersville Metrics held at Biemesderfer Stadium.
The Warriors scored 130 points and recorded five first-place finishes while Kutztown topped the team standings with 170.
Junior
Jeanette Jones recorded a first place finish in the 100m hurdles with a time of 15.72 seconds and followed her performance up by winning the 400m hurdles after clocking a time of 1:07.17. Also, in the 100m hurdles, junior
Misha Duverger was fourth after finishing in 16.88 seconds.
Freshman
Madison Palmer had a notable debut on the track for Warriors as she finished first in the 10,000m with a time of 41:30.62. Sophomore
Samantha Brawner took third with a time of 43:42.01.
In the 5000m, senior
Rachael Davalos finished first with a time of 18:53.45 and junior Amanda Fine was in second after clocking a time of 18:58.82.
Senior transfer Caroly Danoski was impressive in her Warriors debut by taking second in the 1500m with a time of 4:56.46. Senior
Brittany Carratura came in fifth after clocking a time of 5:00.70 and freshman Keely Ardnt rounded out the scoring with an eight place finish (5:07.55).
Sophomore
Ariel Kyle finished fifth in the 400m dash after clocking a time of 1:01.46 in the second section.
The 4x400m relay team of
Ariel Kyle,
Charity McLeod,
Carly Danoski and
Brittany Carratura finished second with a time of 4:15.58.
In the field events, the Warriors had three of the top five finishers in the shot put with freshman
Elizabeth Makar earning the win in her first appearance as a Warrior with a mark of 13.06m.
Madison Horahan was fourth with a throw of 11.63m and
Barbara Grossov took fifth with a toss of 11.51m.
Grossov followed that up with a third place finish in the hammer after she recorded a throw of 42.43m.
Isabella Marte (40.57m) took sixth and Makar (40.32m) was eighth to round out the scoring for ESU.
Makar finished her busy day taking fifth in the discus with a throw of 34.76m.
Sophomores
Juliana Schraer and
Hannah Frankenfield paced the Warriors in the pole vault with fourth and fifth place finishes, respectively. Schraer and Frankenfield both cleared the bar at 3.10m.

The women's track and field team returns to competition on Thursday and Friday at the Mondschein Multi hosted by Kutztown. The Warriors will head to West Chester on Saturday for the Bill Butler Invitational.
