Women’s Track & Field Wins Three Events at WCU Last Chance Meet

WEST CHESTER, Pa. – Keely Arndt, Barbara Grossov and Tiana Webster picked up wins in their respective events to lead the East Stroudsburg University women's track and field team on Saturday at the Last Chance Meet hosted by West Chester at John A. Farrell Stadium.

Arndt captured first place in the 5000m, Grossov won the hammer throw and Webster secured a win in the 100m dash.

Running Highlights
Webster got back to her winning ways in the 100m with a first place finish after clocking a time of 12.27 seconds. This the third time this season that the Somerset, N.J. native has won the event. The graduate student followed it by taking fifth in the 200m dash with a season-best time of 25.90 seconds.

Arndt captured the first event win of her career at ESU as she took first in the 5000m with a time of 19:15.94.

Jeanette Jones continued her strong spring for the Warriors with second place finishes in both the 100m and 400m hurdles. In the 100m, the Middle Sex, N.J. ran a time of 15.18 seconds and in the 400m she clocked a time of 1:06.51.

Brittany Carratura paced the Warriors in the 800m as she finished as the runner-up with a personal-best time of 2:19.32. Rachael Davalos recorded the same finish in the 1500m after clocking a time of 4:59.06.

Field Highlights
Grossov (44.91m) paced the Warriors in the hammer as they captured the top-three spots with Elizabeth Makar finishing as the runner-up with throw of 43.09m and Madison Horahan taking third with a mark of 42.59m.

In the shot put, the Warriors earned the two through four finishes with Makar (13.57m) leading the way as the runner-up, Barbara Grossov (12.10m) taking third with a season-best mark and Isabella Marte in fourth with a season-best throw of 11.92m.

Makar followed up her effort with a third place finish in the discus as she recorded a personal-best throw of 40.13m.

Sophomores Hannah Frankenfield and Juliana Schraer were another highlight in the field events for ESU as they tied for fourth in the pole vault after clearing the bar at 3.43m. That effort by Frankfield and Schraer puts them in a tie for third for the best mark in program history.

Freshman Janelle Foston had an impressive day in the long jump as she took third with a personal-best mark of 5.04m.

The Warriors travel to Shippensburg on Thursday to begin the 2021 Men's and Women's Outdoor Track & Field Championships. Events will continue through Friday and Saturday at Seth Grove Stadium. More information on the championships is available at psacsports.org.
