EAST STROUDSBURG – East Stroudsburg University men' soccer junior Juan Carlos was selected to the 2021 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Division II Academic All-District 2 Team, the organization announced on Thursday afternoon.

Carlos has excelled in the classroom as a business management major, posting a 3.91 cumulative grade point average. He has recorded a pair of 4.0 semesters so far during his academic career. He has also reached dean's list status on three occasions.  

On the pitch, the Alicante, Spain native has made 14 starts and appeared in all 16 games during the 2019 season. In 2019, Carlos helped the ESU defense rank third in the PSAC in goals against average (0.96). He also aided in seven shutouts with ESU posting an 11-5-3 record in 2019.

Carlos becomes the 25th academic all-district selection in program history and the 16th men's soccer student-athlete to receive the honor overall. With the all-district selection, Carlos advances to the CoSIDA All-America ballot. The CoSIDA Academic All-America Teams will be announced in early July.

The CoSIDA Academic All-District and Academic All-America teams recognize student-athletes for athletic and academic achievements and are nominated and voted on by members of CoSIDA. District 2 of Division II follows the NCAA's regional model and includes all schools from the PSAC, MEC (Mountain East Conference) and CIAA (Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association).
