EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. — Fresh off taking their first playoff victory in four years, the Warriors head back on the road to face the No. 1-seeded East team, Millersville, in the PSAC Semifinals on Wednesday at 1 p.m.
SCOUTING EAST STROUDSBURG
• In the quarterfinals, ESU ended a 21-day winless streak by defeating the Lock Haven Bald Eagles, 1-0, on the road. Six of the Warriors' eight wins have come on opponent territory, averaging 1.5 goals and holding opponents scoreless in all of them.
• ESU's attack has been built on strong drives rather than sustained plays. Despite scoring the fourth-most goals in the conference with 29, the Warriors' 22 assists are the fourth-lowest. Still, they are heavy on the attack each game, taking an average of 13.7 shots, but only 38.1% of them go on goal. This ranks ESU sixth in shots on goal, while being the least accurate team in the PSAC.
• The Warriors earned their eighth shutout of the season against the Bald Eagles, keeping up the strong defense they've shown all year. Holding teams to 1.3 goals per game and saving 3.3 shots per game, ESU ranks fourth in the East in both stats.
•
Phil Sykes remains one of the top goalies in the conference, saving 77.8% of shots that come his way and allowing less than one goal per game, standing No. 3 in each category. His 49 saves put Sykes third-best among East Division goalies.
• With his goal in the quarterfinal game,
Jeter Cardona scored his fifth season goal and fourth game-winner, one of three players to reach that mark in the conference. The sophomore has totaled five assists on the year, the highest of anyone in the East.
• Though Arias didn't find the back of the net in the game against Lock Haven, he was far from quiet. With four shots, he made it clear that he is the Warriors' primary attacker. Recording eight goals on the season, the 2026 PSAC East Athlete of the Year is the third-leading scorer in the conference and third-most accurate shooter.
SCOUTING MILLERSVILLE
• Millersville enters the contest with a stretch of three consecutive wins that comes after a three-game winless run. In the quarterfinal round, the Marauders picked up a 2-0 victory against a Slippery Rock team that has the fourth-worst defense of all conference teams.
• Millersville has had the best defense in the conference, allowing a conference-best 14 goals all season, holding opponents to an average of just 0.7 goals per game. The team has also executed clean sheets more often than any other PSAC program, doing so in 52.6% of games. Allowing 6.8 shots per game and saving 76.3% of shots on goal, the Marauders have the ninth-highest total goal differential in the nation with 26.
• Contributing to that number just as much is the second-best scoring offense in the conference, posting 2.1 goals per game. While 43.1% of shots being on target is the fourth-worst in the conference, a persistent attack putting up a conference-high 14.9 shots per game still tallies 6.4 shots per game, which ranks the best in the East.
• Part of the offensive strength can be attributed to the efficiency with which Millersville sets up chances to score. Their 5.6 corner kicks per game serves as the second-most in the conference, while 1.4 assists per game is the best in the division.
• This offense's leading scorers are Roy Parkyn and Zander Leik, who've scored nine and seven goals, respectively. With three assists, Parkyn has posted the most points in the East. He's also credited with four game-winning goals, all at home.
• Unlike Parkyn, Leik isn't a consistent starter in the Marauders' rotation and didn't start in the last meeting with the Warriors. In the last five games, he's played less than 30 minutes, with the most being 27 against ESU. Despite that, he's still recorded a goal in two of the last three games.
• In net, Gavin Massimi has been the primary starter for Millersville. In his 16 starts, he's notched five shutouts, the third-highest in the conference. However, only 36 saves leaves him outside the top 10 in the PSAC. A factor in that number is that the junior has faced just 107 shots this year. The most shots Massimi has faced in a game this season is 12, occurring against Ashland and twice facing Bloomsburg. Still, Massimi ranks fourth in the East, saving 72% of shots on goal.
SERIES HISTORY
• The Warriors have played the Marauders twice already this season, winning the matchup on the road and holding them to a draw at home. In both contests, ESU's defense held Millersville scoreless.
• All-time, the Warriors hold the advantage, winning 47 of the 81 games between the two. However, the win in September has been the only recent success against the Marauders, as the last victory before that came in 2021.
• The last time the teams faced off in the postseason was in 2010, with ESU coming out on top with a 1-0 home win. 2008 was the most recent meeting at Millersville, which resulted in a 3-2 overtime loss for the Warriors, the only time they've lost to the Marauders out of five playoff games.
