LEWISBURG – Freshman Elizabeth Makar highlighted the East Stroudsburg University women's track and field team's day at Bucknell's Gulden Invitational by breaking a 15-year-old school record in the shot put and recording an NCAA provisional mark with a throw of 14.01m at Gerhard Fieldhouse.
In addition to Makar's outstanding day, Jeanette Jones (60m hurdles) also recorded a PSAC automatic qualifying time.
Running Highlights
After earning a conference qualifying time in the 60m hurdles prelims, Jones clocked a personal-best time of 9.15 in the finals to earn a runner-up finish.
Running in the 4x400m for the first time this season, Sarah Guthirie Jalen Rhodes, Jeanette Jones and Jacklyn Spaccaforno clocked a time of 4:29.94 with the Top 12 declared teams competing at the conference championships.
Field Event Highlights
The Warriors finished fourth through sixth in the weight throw with Makar (14.41m) leading the way followed up by Madison Horahan (14.17m) and Isabella Marte (13.54m). Makar's effort in the event tied the ninth best mark in program history.
On her way to breaking a Amanda Sines' record in the shot put set back in 2007, Makar took second with a throw of 14.01m and Horhan was seventh with a mark of 12.43m.
Hannah Frankenfield and Nickolina Annelli both hit qualifying marks in the pole vault after each clearing the bar at 3.30m.
