Makar Replaces Shot Put Record on Day One of Bison Open & Multi

LEWISBURG – For the second consecutive week, freshman Elizabeth Makar etched a new program record in the shot put as the East Stroudsburg University women's track and field team competed on day one of Bucknell's Bison Open & Multi at Gerhard Fieldhouse.

After notching a throw of 14.35m, Makar overtook her previous record of 14.01m set at the same exact spot just six days ago. As of night, Makar now leads the PSAC with her mark and ranks 12th in all of Division II. 

Isabella Marte recorded her second PSAC qualifying mark of the season today in the shot put with a throw of 11.77m.

Running Highlights

After securing spots in the 60m hurdles finals, Jeanette Jones won the event after clocking a personal-best time of 9.09 while Jacklyn Spaccaforno was eighth with a time of 9.67. Jones' time is the third fastest in program history.

Field Event Highlights

While breaking the shot put record for the second consecutive week, Makar won the event with her throw. Madison Horahan was sixth at 11.92m and Marte took seventh with her conference mark.

A trio of Warriors competed in the pole vault with Nikolina Annelli leading the way in tie for second after clearing the bar at 3.45m. Hannah Frankenfield took sixth with a height of 3.15m and competing for the first time this season was Juliana Schraer in ninth (3.00m).
