Makar Captures Shot Put Title at FastTrack National Invitational

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. – Highlighted by freshman Elizabeth Makar winning the shot put, the East Stroudsburg University women's track and field team was back competing at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex on Friday for the FastTrack National Invitational.

Another highlight on the day for the Warriors was Kamya Edmonds notching a PSAC qualifying mark in the triple jump after leaping 11.27m on her fifth attempt. Edmonds will not compete at the conference championships in both the long ans triple jumps.  

Running Highlights

In the 60m dash, Misha Diverger took 15th with a personal-best time of 8.28 and Kayla Horning was in 16th after matching her season-best time at 8.28. Jalen Rhodes finished 19th after clocking a time of 8.33.

Ariel Kyle dropped her season-best time in the 400m to 1:01.13 on her way to finishing 33rd in a heavily contested event.

Field Event Highlights

On her way to taking first place in the shot put for the third straight week, Makar recorded a throw of 14.31m. On her way to a fifth place finish in the weight throw, the freshman recorded a personal-best throw of 16.20m.

In the pole vault, Nickolina Annelli had an impressive showing in fourth place after clearing the bar at 3.50m on her second attempt.

Edmonds improved on her season-best mark in the long jump as she record a leap of 5.27m on her first attempt of the day to come in 12th. On her way to a conference qualifying mark in the triple jump, Edmonds finished fourth.

Up Next

The Warriors will get one final tune up in prior to the PSAC Indoor Championships next Friday when they travel to Kutztown for the KU Last Chance Qualifier.
