EDINBORO – After the first day of the PSAC Indoor Championships, the East Stroudsburg University men's track and field team sits in third place after recording 20 points at the Mike S. Zafirovski Sports and Recreation Dome
The Warriors trail first place Shippensburg, who has 83 points and Slippery Rock with 31 points.
Running Highlights
Tyler Boone secured his spot in tomorrow's 400m final after clocking the third fastest time in the prelims at 50.00 while Raul Esteves will run in the 60m finals after posting the fifth quickest time at 7.05. Esteves just missed the 200m finals as he finished ninth in the prelims with a time of 22.59.
While also competing in the heptathlon, Daniel Daley and Caleb Carney advanced to the finals of the 60m hurdles, placing third and sixth with personal-best times of 8.50 and 8.80. Nasir Kyle moved on the finals as well running the seventh fastest time at 8.82.
The distance medley relay squad of Zephyr Crestwell, Luke Valdevit, Brian McGarrity, Alejandro Paez took sixth with a time of 10:26.89.
Field Event Highlights
In his final indoor championships, Daryn Blackwell finished third in the weight throw after recording a personal-best mark of 16.88m which is also the seventh furthest in program history. Issac Almoney would take sixth in the event for the Warriors after recording a throw of 16.40m.
Freshman Jack Gorham earned two points in the long jump with a seventh place finish after recording a personal-best mark of 6.75m.
In the pole vault, Grant Fox and Robert Plumb finished in a tie for fifth after both clearing the bar at 4.10m on their first attempts.
Heptathlon Highlights
After the first four events in the heptathlon, Carney sits in third with 2519 points, Daley is sixth with 2512 points and Krzyzaniak is 10th with 2175 points.
Daley and Carney opened the heptathlon with sixth and seventh placed finishes in the 60m hurdles as they each recorded a personal-best time of 7.37. Krzyzaniak came in 11th at 7.47.
In the long jump, Carney took fifth with a personal-best mark of 6.23m, Daley was right behind in sixth at 6.19m while Krzyzaniak took 12th (5.35m).
Carney carried over his momentum into the shot put taking third with a throw of 10.38m, while Daley was sixth (9.99m) and Krzyzaniak in seventh (9.93m).
In the final event of the day, Daley finished in a tie for second in the high jump after clearing 1.82m, Carney took fourth at 1.79m and Krzyzaniak was ninth (1.67m).
