EDINBORO – The East Stroudsburg University men's track and field team sits recorded nine top-five finishes on their taking third place on the final day of the PSAC Indoor Championships at the Mike S. Zafirovski Sports and Recreation Dome
Shippensburg captured the team title with 210 10 points as the Raiders claimed the championship for the 11th consecutive season. Slippery Rock was the runner-up with 90 points while the Warriors were in third with 76.
Running Highlights
Luke Valdevit kicked off the day on the track for ESU with a 10th place finish in the mile while Brian McGarrity was 13th.
With three Warriors competing in the 60m hurdles finals, Daniel Daley finished third, Caleb Carney took fourth and Nasir Kyle was seventh to earn 12 points. Daley and Kyle clocked personal-best times of 8.50 and 8.78 respectively while Carney finished in 8.66.
Tyler Boone would take sixth in the 400m with a time of 50.08 and Raul Esteves followed by taking sixth in the 60m finals after finishing in 7.05.
On his way to taking sixth in the 800m, Austyn Hamilton clocked his fastest time on a flat track at 1:56.75.
The Warriors closed out the running events by finishing as the runner-up in the 4x400m as Boone, Sean Roberts, Ryan Ditty and Esteves clocked a time of 3:24.73.
Field Event Highlights
Ivan Hicks had a career-day in the sand pit as he notched a fifth place finish in the triple jump recording a personal-best mark of 14.01m on his final attempt.
In the high jump, Romanley Turnier and Aaron Sanchez took eighth and ninth after each clearing the bar at 1.92m, which was a personal-best mark for Sanchez.
Cole Gorham and Isaac Almoney secured fifth and sixth place finishes in the shot put after recording marks of 15.31m and 15.05m respectively.
Heptathlon Highlights
Wrapping up the final three events of the heptathlon, Daley finished fourth with a personal-best point total of 4456, which ranks fifth-best in program history. Carney was right behind in fifth with a personal-best 4415 points, good enough for sixth all-time and Krzyzaniak took eighth with 4046 points.
Starting off the day with the 60m hurdles, Daley grabbed first place with a personal-best time of 8.50 while Carney was third with a personal-best finish of 8.62 and Krzyzaniak finished seventh (8.93).
In the pole vault, Krzyzaniak led the way in fifth after clearing 3.25m while Daley (3.05m) took eighth and Carney (2.85m) was tied for 10th.
Closing out the day with the 1000m, Carney raced to a third place finish with a personal-best time of 2:52.19 while Krzyzaniak (2:54.18) and Daley (2:54.89) followed in a sixth and seventh.
