BUCKNELL – Highlighted by Robert Plumb recording a PSAC qualifying mark in the pole vault, the East Stroudsburg University men's track and field team competed in a number of events on day two of the Bucknell Bison Outdoor Classic at Christy Mathewson-Memorial Stadium.
Plumb became the 18th different Warrior this outdoor season to notch a conference qualifying mark as the Denville, N.J. native cleared 4.20m (13-9 ¼) in the pole vault.
Wrapping up the final five events of the decathlon, Caleb Carney was the Warriors' highest finisher in sixth after accumulating a personal-best 5719 points. Daniel Daley grabbed a top-10 finish in eighth at a career-best 5478 points while Eric Krzyzaniak took 13th with 5266 points.
Decathlon Highlights
The Warriors resumed the decathlon with the 110m hurdles, as Daley led the way in fourth with a time of 16.06, followed by Carney in fifth at 16.11 and Krzyzaniak taking ninth after finishing in 16.90.
In the discus, Daley paced ESU in ninth with a throw of 26.98m (88-6) while Carney was right behind in 10th after recording a mark of 26.97m (88-6). Krzyzaniak finished 13th after throwing the disc 26.33m (86-4).
Carney paced the Warriors in the pole vault as he cleared the bar at 3.58m (11-9) to finish ninth while Daley was 14th with a height of 3.18m (10-5 1.4) and Krzyzaniak took 15th at 3.08m (10-1 ¼).
Moving to the javelin, Krzyzaniak had the best finish in sixth with a mark of 43.58m (143-0), followed by Daley in 12th at 36.78m (120-8) and Carney in 14th with a throw of 32.38m (106-3).
The Warriors closed out the decathlon with the 1500m, led by Carney in fifth with a time of 4:50.98 while Krzyzaniak took eighth at 4:55.68 and Daley in 10th at 5:03.27.
Running Highlights
Running in the unseeded section of the 15000m, Luke Valdevit missed a PSAC qualifying time by just under a second as the senior finished in 4:05.84.
Field Event Highlights
In a field of 49, Jack Gorham grabbed a 28th place finish in the long jump as he recorded a leap of 6.49m (21-3 ½).
Plumb was tied for 10th in the pole vault with PSAC mark of 4.20m (13-9 ¼).
Graduate student Eric Garner continued to impress in the javelin with a third place finish after notching a mark of 62.47m (204-11). Zach Nissley took 13th with a throw of 56.20m (184-4) and Seth Leonard was 24th at 51.41m (168-8).
