BETHLEHEM – The East Stroudsburg University women's track and field team wrapped up competition at Lehigh's Carol & John Covert Classic by securing four additional PSAC automatic marks on Saturday at the Goodman Track and Field Complex.
Misha Duverger (200m), Ariel Kyle (400m), Sarah Guthrie (400m hurdles) and Samiyah Little (Hammer) helped highlight the afternoon for ESU by adding conference qualifying marks in their respective events.
Running Highlights
The Warriors opened the day on the track with a runner-up finish in the 4x100m as Duverger, Kyle, Jalen Rhodes and Jeanette Jones clocked a season-best time of 48.32.
Jones returned to grab a first place finish in the 100m hurdles as she clocked a personal-best time of 14.61 and Jacklyn Spaccaforno was seventh with a personal-best time of 15.64. Jones also earned a first place in 400m hurdles as she clocked another personal-best time of 1:03.13, which ranks fifth all-time in school history. Sarah Guthrie took fifth after crossing the line in a PSAC qualifying and personal-best time of 1:07.90.
On her way to fourth place finish in the 400m, Kyle clocked a PSAC qualifying and personal-best time of 59.57.
In the 100m, Duverger took fourth place with a season-best time of 12.63 and Rhodes was right behind in fifth after running a personal-best of 12.81.
Duverger continued her busy day with a sixth place finish in the 200m with a conference time of 25.71, while Rhodes was ninth at 26.13.
ESU closed out the afternoon by taking first place in the 4x400m as Kyle, Duverger, Spaccaforno and Jones combined to cross the finish line in a season-best time of 4:04.82.
Field Highlights
Elizabeth Makar kicked off the day for the Warriors with a first place finish in the shot put after recording a mark of 14.41m (47-3 ½) and Madison Horahan was sixth with a personal-best throw of 12.45m (40-10 ¼), which ranks seventh-best in school history.
In the long jump, Kamya Edmonds finished 11th notching a mark of 5.07m (16-7 ¾). Edmonds responded with a huge leap in the triple jump at 11.50m (37-8 ¾) to take third and move up to fourth all-time in the program record books.
Nickolina Annelli was tied for sixth place in the pole vault after clearing the bar at 3.40m (11-1 ¾) and Hannah Frankenfield followed in eighth after eclipsing the same height.
The Warriors notched a pair of top-10 finishes in the discus as Horahan was eighth with a personal-best mark of 39.19m (128-7) and Isabella Marte took 10th with a throw of 38.97m (127-10). Horahan's effort ranks eighth all-time in program history.
With yesterday's field results entered, the Warriors had an additional conference qualifying mark with Little launching the hammer 43.28m (142-0) on her way to taking 10th.
