MILLERSVILLE – Highlighted by PSAC Champion Elizabeth Makar's school-record throw in the shot put and Olivia Sforza's NCAA provisional mark in the javelin, the East Stroudsburg University women's track and field team tied with Seton Hill for seventh place with 61 points on the final day of the 2022 PSAC Outdoor Championships on Saturday at Millersville's Biemesderfer Stadium.
Field Highlights
- Makar highlighted the day for the Warrior women, tossing a school-record throw of 14.51 meters on her second attempt of the day to win the event. She eclipsed her previous outdoor school record of 14.48m, which she previously set at the Millersville Metrics on April 2. Also competing in the event for ESU was Madison Horahan, whose toss of 11.75m finished in 17th place.
- Olivia Sforza also impressed, tossing a personal-best throw of 43.0 meters in the javelin to earn runner-up honors. She topped her previous best mark of 36.72m at the WCU Quad earlier this season. The mark earned ESU eight team points. The distance is third best in program history.Â
Running Highlights
- ESU placed sixth in the 4x100, with Misha Duverger, Ariel Kyle, Jalen Rhodes and Jeannette Jones combining for a time of 48.15 to add four points to the Warriors' team score.
- ESU placed two in the top-eight in the 100m hurdles, with junior Jeanette Jones posting a time of 14.69 for third place, followed by Jacklyn Spaccaforno shortly after in seventh place (15.77).
- Jones was back at it in the 400m hurdles, posting a personal-best time of 1:02.64, which was good enough for fourth place. The fourth-place finish added five points to the Warriors' score.
- Kyle tallied a personal-best time in the 200m, finishing sixth with a time of 25.47.
- In the final running event for the Warriors in the 4x400, the team of Kyle, Duverger, Kayla Horning and Jones recorded a time of 3:58.43 for seventh place and two team points.
