EAST STROUDSBURG – The East Stroudsburg University men's and women's track & field teams combined to have 11 student-athletes earn U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Region honors, announced by the organization on Wednesday.
The top-5 individuals in each event from each region earned All-Region distinction, in addition to each member of the region's top-3 relay teams. The regions used for this award – Atlantic, Central, East, Midwest, South, South Central, Southeast and West – match those used during the cross country season.
Men's Track & Field
Isaac Almoney (Hanover, Pa./Delone Catholic) was the only Warrior on the men's team to receive All-Region honors in multiple events, earning his in the discus and hammer. On his way to a second place finish in the hammer at the PSAC Championships, the sophomore recorded the third-best throw in school history at 56.72m (186-1). In the discus, Almoney took fourth at the conference meet and notched a mark of 47.84m (156-11), which is ninth all-time in the record book.
Daryn Blackwell (Toms River, N.J./Toms River North) had one of his best seasons wearing the red and black to earn All-Region honors in the hammer. Blackwell grabbed a third place finish in the event at the PSAC Championships and recorded a personal-best throw of 55.61m (182-5) at ESU's 16th Annual All-American Meet back on April 23 to rank fourth all-time in program history.
Caleb Carney (Dowingtwon, Pa./Downingtown East) competed in a number of a events for the Warriors this season on his way to All-Region accolades in the decathlon. The sophomore logged a personal-best point total of 5719 on his way to a sixth place finish at the Bison Outdoor Classic.
Grant Fox (Olean, N.Y., Olean) claimed All-Region honors in the pole vault after notching a runner-up finish at the PSAC Championships where he cleared the bar at a season-best height of 4.55m (14-11).
Eric Garner (Lititz, Pa./Warwick) was impressive in his lone season with the Warriors to earn All-Region honors in the javelin. The graduate student recorded a 14th-place finish in the event at the NCAA Outdoor Championships and was the runner-up at the PSAC Championships. In his first meet sporting the red and black, Garner notched the fourth-best javelin throw in program history at 65.42m (214-7).
Zach Nissley (Mount Joy, Pa./Donegal) joins his teammate in receiving All-Region honors for the javelin following his first season at ESU. Nissley was fifth in the event at the PSAC Championships and recorded a season-best throw of 58.19m (190-11) at the WCU Quad.
Cole Gorham (Kingston, Pa./Wyoming Valley West) wraps up the men's team All-Region selections following his record-setting season in the discus. The freshman was the runner-up in the event at the PSAC Championships and surpassed a 42-year-old program record with a throw of 51.85m (170-1) at the All-American Meet.
Women's Track & Field
Kamya Edmonds (Reading, Pa./Exeter Township) claimed All-Region honors in the long jump after recording a leap of 5.65m (18-6 ½) on her way to a second place finish at the PSAC Championships. Edmonds' mark ranks fourth all-time in program history and the junior was also impressive in the triple jump throughout the season.
Jeanette Jones (Middlesex, N.J./Middlesex) receives All-Region honors in the 400m hurdles following her fourth-place finish at the PSAC Championships where she clocked the third fastest time in school history at 1:02.64.
Elizabeth Makar (Oxford, Pa./Pinelands Regional) followed up her outstanding indoor season by garnering All-Region honors in both the shot put and hammer. The sophomore earned Second Team All-American honors in the shot put with a 10th place finish at the NCAA Outdoor Championships. On her way to capturing the PSAC title in the event, the sophomore broke her own school record with a throw of 14.51m (47-7 ¼).
In the hammer throw, Makar finished fourth at the PSAC Championships and set the program record with a mark of 51.65m (169-5) at the All-American Meet.
Olivia Sforza (Lebanon, Pa./Lebanon) was the final Warrior to earn All-Region honors, saving her best performance of the season in the javelin for the PSAC Outdoor Championships where she recorded a runner-up finish with a personal-best throw of 43.00m (141-1). Sforza's mark was a NCAA Provisional Qualifier and ranks third all-time in school history.
